The Amateur Radio User Group (RUG)
Purpose - To bring together amateur radio operators of similar interests and desires who want to be actively involved in one or more of the technical and/or operating facets of amateur radio to:
- Promote the passing and sharing of amateur radio knowledge and experiences to other interested amateur radio operators.
- Promote the discovery and enjoyment of amateur radio.
- Turn our learning and sharing efforts into practical working applications.
- To have fun!
Goals -
- To associate with like-minded operators who want to learn, create, build and have fun.
- To increase our own knowledge, operating skills, and techniques and those of other amateur radio operators.
- To get back to creating and building devices and creating applications for amateur radio as did men with the names of Maxim, Tesla, Armstrong, Fleming, and Marconi.
- To associate with amateur radio operators who have the love of amateur radio and with those who yearn to embrace it.
- To associate with those amateur radio operators who want to pass on their wisdom and knowledge of a lifetime to those who so want to learn and do.
- To sustain a knowledge base for the future to not lose past skills and experiences to the march of time.
Membership Requirements - As are our goals, our membership requirements are set high and should not be taken lightly. Only qualified licensed amateur radio operators (of any license class) are accepted as members who:
- are at present (or want to learn and become) actively involved in some technical and/or operating facets of amateur radio.
- will share their skills, training, and knowledge of amateur radio to help increase the skills, proficiencies, and knowledge of other members.
- will make a commitment to gather regularly, to the best of their ability, with several other members who have similiar interests and desires.
Dues - $15 per year. All dues go toward anuual insurance for the group.
Build Sessions Time and Location - Our regular build sessions are on the third Saturday of each month at 10 AM at 21 Pecan Grove Circle, Lucas, Texas 75002.
That is about 1 mile north of the intersection of Estates Parkway (McDermott) and Country Club (Hwy 1378).
Director - The director shall be responsible for guiding the vision, purpose, and goals of the group. The Director is a voluntary position.
Duration of Membership - Once accepted as a member, your membership will continue as long as you are actively involved in the technical and/or operating facets of amateur radio.
Charter Membership Designation - In keeping with the high ideas and lofty goals of those who have come before us,
such as Maxim, Tesla, Fleming, Armstrong, and Marconi, those members who immediately see the value, need,
and benefit of the Amateur Radio User Group and display such by having applied for membership by April 21, 2009,
shall be designated visionaries, protectors of the spirit of amateur radio, and charter members of the Amateur Radio UserGroup.
Membership in itself is not enough. Our actions will forever outlive our ideas.
